Three Inland "Cs"

Our first day in Bandol was spent wandering around the village. It was market day here so there was a lot to see in this Provence-oriented stalls. When the tastes and smells weren't distracting us, there were the impressive yachts in the harbour to gaze at.

Wednesday, we decided to explore inland so we visited Saint Cyr sur Mer, a very typical Provence village with its little square lined with cafes and its area for playing boules or petang.  From there, we went to La Cadiere which is situated on a hilltop.  It too was very typical and a somewhat sleepy little town. The views from its ramparts were stunning across the vineyards (the grapes to make all that fabulous rose wine have come from somewhere!) to the distant mountains. One hill away, we could see Le Castellet which turned out to be a gem.

In Le Castellet, we wandered around the medieval streets, shopped for some souvenirs (I got a tablecloth) and had lunch sitting outside - that won't be happening when I get home!  Of the three villages we explored, we liked this one best. It also turned out to be the only one of the three where I didn't manage to step in dog poo. Merde!
